On Sunday, the famous 89-year-old Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani concluded Milan Fashion Week with an unusual show, dreaming up a fantasy winter garden in his fall-winter 2024 collection.
A moment of happiness
Giorgio Armani returned to black, using the classic color as a kind of canvas on which winter flowers shine as a symbol of hope. The designer said: “A woman in black is more beautiful than any other shade, and the flower that blooms in the cold of winter is a symbol of hope and renewal that we want to convey, especially in this difficult period.” “We cannot change the world, but we can give people a moment of happiness and the magic of modernity.” Armani added.
In the fall and winter 2024 collection, flowers appeared in the form of embroideries and accessories with three-dimensional sequins on clothes. Strings of black dragonflies fluttered on the shoulders of jackets, while strapless corsets and sheer fabrics were covered in embroidered floral motifs in pink, burgundy and dark green. Armani liked the idea of incorporating bright flowers into his new collection. “There are no flowers in winter, but now they are here and I have created them. They evoke happier seasons and I love the contrast,” the designer said. The show was opened by supermodel Gina Di Bernardo, who often appeared in the brand's advertising campaigns in the 1980s. Armani, who turns 90 in July, said he doesn't think he will ever stop working because dressing is his greatest passion in life.
