Before the finals on the final day, the Hungarian team had already secured three gold medals among seniors at the World Kickboxing Championships in Albufeira, Portugal. During the global competition, which ran from Monday to Saturday, a record number of about 1,400 boxers from 70 countries took to the tatami ring.
In the World Cup, five players reached the senior finals on Friday, with three of them winning the finals. In the rules of fighting on points, former world champion Patrik Chilovski (57 kg) and Balint Martin (74 kg), who won the most gold medal in the history of sports at this year’s European Games, defeated their Venezuelan and Italian opponents by technical knockout. In light contact, Gergő Száraz (63 kg) also triumphed over his Italian opponent, thus defending his world championship title.
Meanwhile, Bence Zajac, winner of the World Wrestling Games in October, and Emanuel Smolik, who won silver two years ago, failed to win.
Cynthia Halostic also won the silver medal among gymnasts in the musical gymnastics category.
Among the veterans, there are six Hungarian gold medals, as well as three second places and five third places to our name. The performance of Marijana Kovacs stands out, as she managed to stand on top of the podium in all three disciplines in which she started.
On the final day on Saturday, additional Hungarian competitors will be able to compete for the gold medal.
