The band known throughout the Carpathian Basin is celebrating its jubilee. The members of the Akusztik Quartet – Imre Vadkirti, David Sipos, Attila Zabka and Besti Sztz – are rightly among the most popular musicians in the Highlands. Their distinctive voice, instrumental delivery, style and genius make them great on an individual level. Someone once said that the stars must have been aligned when these great musicians created this formation.
The members agree that the friendship they have together is sacred and inviolable, which is why they can play together freely, with joy, and with great devotion.
Akusztik represents the Hungarian musical palette in many ways: in addition to poems accompanying the music, they also play legendary Hungarian pieces and their own songs. Few people know that the band began its career in the halls of small schools in the Highlands.
Ten years ago, I started going to schools with poems with music, all the way to Kurzar's plays. At first on my own, then I called Amy about it. I thought he was basically more of an 'evening musician', during the day he would certainly agree to visit Hungarian schools with me
Attila Zsabka talks about beginnings, the heart of which is closer to poems accompanied by music. Later, Dávid Sipos joined the duo with instruments, and then they had a big win when the legendary Szűts Pistij from the band Kormorán was added to Akusztiks, who now plays in a quartet.
I would like to celebrate the anniversary with a large-scale concert on November 16 at Komarom. At this concert, musicians somehow related to the Akusztik band were invited to perform as guests.
– Thus, a month before the concert, we practically solved the organizational issues, David took up the musical part, which is a very complex task. There will be Kormorán songs from the Vadkerti line, songs from the Korzár line will come from me, and we will also sing from our joint album On the Edge of Europe. We usually work at a very hectic pace and travel relentlessly. But if it weren't for that crazy time crunch, you'd think we'd be going on a big friend trip every time. Every minute we spend together is a pleasure, and it is also easier to carry burdens together this way – explains Attila Zabka.
David Sipos, who is responsible for the music for the Jubilee Concert, happened upon Akusztik, originally created by the Zsapka-Vadkerti duo, years ago on the occasion of the Advent Concert.
– Personally, I really like this team, we can always discuss everything, we have a very deep friendship. During the holidays, when we have some time, we also sit with our families, and then we are very happy with this friendship – says David, who had a big task in organizing the concert, as he had to re-tune the pieces of a quartet for a large orchestra. Guest speakers are also to be consulted, and Kormorán's founder, Gergő Koltay, will also arrive as a big-name surprise guest. They are already looking forward to the jubilee party with great joy and excitement.
I was able to catch up with Emre Vadkerti by phone. He admits that the world of soft, lyrical acoustic music is very close to his heart, which is why he loves the band and all its members.
– These boys, this band, are the top of my heart, we get along very well, there are never any frictions between us, that's why we can play music with such passion and love. Sometimes we call each other in the evening with an idea. “I'm usually the one who suggests covering new songs, I hear something and I immediately know how this song is going to work sonically,” says Imre Vadkerti. He's happy to announce that the band has a new member, sound engineer Lacy Kovacs, who will be joining the band in the near future with “a little rattle and rattle” instruments.
This is how we travel together in the Carpathian Basin. I wish the “Birthday” Akusztik to stay together for a long time, in good health and with such a wonderful attitude, humane and friendly love.
We have a beautiful and special musical evening ahead of us on the occasion of the jubilee, and here we must extend our sincere thanks to our audience, because they are loyal. When the acoustics are turned on, the hall is filled and we are filled with love. We try to reciprocate our music.
