The group of engineers and production development of the TMZ Engine Plant is constantly working on a comprehensive modernization of the Kirovec K-7 tractor engine.
The upgraded engines use a more efficient charge air cooler (CAC) for the intercooler. The advantages of the updated air-to-air ONV engine are obvious: the charge air is cooled by atmospheric air, the engine design and manufacturing technology are simpler, and its cost and fuel consumption are also lower. In order to improve the quality and increase the engine life, they switched to V-belts made of a different material. They have smaller dimensions, lower noise level, ensure even rotation of the drive mechanisms and higher load capacity, as well as more reliable operation.
The use of multiple V-belts allows to remove the complex generator drive unit from the engine and increase the life of the water pump. Since 2023, a cooling pump with a reinforced bearing unit has been used in the modified tractor engine. In the spring of this year, engines with cast-iron cylinder heads went into serial production, and from July, a new cylinder block casting technology will be used. Work on the modernization of tractor engines continues: according to plans, the engine power will be increased in the range of 460-600 hp and a new Common Rail fuel system will be used.
