The 60-year-old specialist decided in 2017 to complete the preparation of his first ex-nephew in the world and focus on running the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca.
Now, however, he’s drawn back and will be a member of the 20-year-old Oger-Aliassim crew for next week’s tournament in Monte Carlo. Rafael Nadal rose to the top of this tournament in 2005 and won his first Roland Garros championship a few weeks later, followed by 12 more.
Auger-Aliassime is currently ranked 22nd in the rankings and is managed by Frederick Fontang. Experts are expecting a great future for him, but the breakthrough is yet to happen, he has lost seven successive ATP Finals so far.
Tony Nadal said that if Oger-Eliasim happened to play with Rafael Nadal in any of the tournaments in the coming months, he would not be sitting in the player box, no one.
“I hope Felix will one day be a world leader. Now your job is to grow, and I will remain Rafa’s uncle.”The Spanish expert said.
