It has been rumored for some time that Toyota is reviving the series’ previous mid-rear-engined MR2 sports car, and we can see confirmation of that in the concept car called the FT-Se. In this case, the two seats were placed in the middle of the car, and the relatively long nose and tail were equipped with a single drive motor each, and these and the battery modules were parts of the company’s mass-produced electric cars – making for an affordable electric sports car.
The brainchild of the Toyota FT-Se was Hideaki Iida, also the designer of Gazoo Racing, but the parent brand liked his creativity so much that they introduced it. Naturally, the tuning has already been carried out by Gazoo Racing engineers, so the drive will be oriented rearward, and the cooling of the new generation battery – solid-state batteries are expected to be available in 2026 – will also be prepared for use on the race track, understand that it will pass through the Nürburgring Without any problems, even several times in a row.

The sports car gets a mixed steel, aluminum and carbon body with an engine that enables acceleration from 0-100 km/h in around 3 seconds, targeting a top speed of 250 km/h. Of course, many things could change until 2026, when the Toyota FT-Se appears on public roads.
