The Association of Fishing Associations in Komárom-Esztergom County released nearly 200 cormorants in the 2,000-hectare section of the Danube from the beginning of September to the end of February, the head of the association told MTI.
Daniel Zoltay He said, the stock thinning that decimated the frozen fish that had entered the winter rest period was carried out by people with a fishing license, using steel beer instead of lead for environmental reasons.
Nearly 2,000 cormorants prey on fish in Komárom-Esztergom County on the Danube River in winter. According to the necropsy experiment, the bird eats half a kilo of fish every day to survive. The wintering birds in the province catch 1,500 kg of fish from the river every day they spend here.
Dániel Zoltai added that there is an abundance of fish in the living waters thanks to government support and farms implemented by the association itself.
The fishermen and fishermen cooperating with them do not aim to exterminate the cormorants, but because of the damage they cause, it is necessary to regulate the stock.
The plumage of a cormorant or cormorant cannot be resisted. He warms himself with the heat of his body, but for this he needs to eat constantly. They crush and injure the peaceful fish feeding in the winter waters, killing three for every fish eaten.
