Udvardy Panna and Anna Bondár will start against opponents from the Grand Slam champions in the main draw matches of the Wimbledon tennis tournament starting Monday.
Based on Friday’s draw, the toughest ranking task awaits Udvardy, who is ranked 82nd, who will face Australian Open champion Aryna Zapalenka in London. The Belarusian Excellence is currently ranked second in the WTA ranking. At number 109, Bondar will meet Canada’s Bianca Andreescu, who won the 2019 US Open as the biggest success of her career to date. Thanks to this, he also finished fourth in the standings, but missed a lot due to injuries and would only start the GS grass court from 51st.
Of the three Hungarian players, Dalma Galfi, ranked 124th, performed best, as she will meet Linda Noskova (45) of the Czech Republic. On the men’s side, only 2010 junior champion Marton Fukusovic will represent Hungary in London this year, and the top-ranked 66th-ranked player will take on 28th-ranked Dutchman Talon Grikspur (31st) at the All England Club.
Fabian Marzan, ranked 95th in the world rankings, lost to German Maximilian Marterer in the final round of qualifying on Thursday, but had a chance to be in the main draw as a lucky loser due to setbacks, but was unsuccessful.
