The partnership between the Ministry and the University ensures that professionals in victim support services are provided with new specific training, vocational training and additional specialized training. Through the cooperation called for by the inter-ministerial committee called the National Coordination Mechanism for Victim Assistance, the first step is to start a specialized vocational training in victim assistance with a certificate in Miskolc.
Signatories of the Cooperation Agreement: Attorney General Ben Tucson and Professor Dr. Zita Horvat, Dean of the University
“Helping victims is a profession that requires special people. Without the hard work and dedicated activities of the people working in the victim support centers, it would not be possible to carry out this assistance mission,” emphasized Justice Minister Bens Tuzun, when signing the agreement to expand cooperation between the two sides. The University of Miskolc and the Ministry of Justice. He highlighted:
It is important to raise the level of victim support work to a higher level,
Those who work in this field can also perform their work with higher professional quality. In addition to the two-semester training for victim assistance specialists, which will begin with the expansion of cooperation between the university and the ministry, I would also like to start training victim assistance lawyers in the future, which will make the legal representation of victims more professional, Justice Minister Ben Tuzun added.
Bence Tuzun, Minister of Justice
The Ministry of Justice has set two important tasks in the field of victim assistance. The first is that the victim assistance system should have nationwide coverage, and the other is that the workers in the field perform their work at the highest possible level. “The training of victim protection experts, the first of its kind in the country to be launched at the University of Miskolc, is working to achieve this,” said Nora Király, the ministry’s representative for the administration. He added that through the cooperation, during two semesters in Miskolc, those committed to the cause of victim assistance will receive theoretical and practical knowledge at a professional level, which is lacking in local higher education.
The Minister of Justice also visited the Faculty of Political Science and Law, which was hosted by the Dean, Professor Dr. Sheila Chak.
“The professional recognition of teaching and research work is an important confirmation for the University of Miskolc,” said Rector Prof. Zita Horvath, assessing the expansion of cooperation with the Ministry of Justice. “The university has a duty to educate educated young people who think responsibly about the future,” he said. The current agreement expands the scope of cooperation concluded in 2021 between the Ministry of Justice and the University of Miskolc.
