The final match of the Under-17 World Championship was held at dawn today, Monday. The United States won the Mexican Army Review after defeating Canada 84-64 in the final.
After a tight first quarter, the USA trailed 41-30 at halftime. In the third quarter, at 50-47, Canada had another chance to catch up, but they couldn't turn it around. The teams went into the final period with the USA leading 59-51, and there could be no doubt about who would win. The USA went on an 11-0 run to take a 70-51 lead. On the winning team, Jerzy Robinson finished with 25 points and McKenna Volechko with 19 points. Canada's leading scorer was Savannah Swords with 15 points.
In the bronze medal battle, Spain defeated France 47-39.
Individual awards were also given out when the results were announced. The Most Valuable Player award went to Jerzy Robinson (USA). The top five were rounded out by McKenna Wolczyk (USA), Agut Meeker (CAN), Sarah Okeke (ESP) and Ainhoa Rissacher (FRA).
