Vancouver 2010: Ovecskin says Canada deserves to win

The biggest star of the Russian hockey team, Alexander Ovechkin, was disappointed that they could not win a medal at the men’s Olympic hockey tournament, but in his opinion, Canada deservedly won the gold.

Ovecskin attended the closing ceremony in Vancouver on Sunday and then returned to Washington for a training session for his team, Capitals. Although he will remember the disappointing five-episode performance for the rest of his life, he should really focus on the NHL.

The star, who was twice voted NHL Player of the Year, stayed in Vancouver throughout the games, but only watched the final minutes of the hockey final.

“I only saw extra time, but I think Canada deservedly won. He played better. Moreover, he looked fresher and had more chances to score goals.”

He was also asked if he was injured due to the injury of his great rival, Sidney Crosby, to the Olympic victory.

Ovecskin replied, “For now, it doesn’t matter. However, he still regrets Russia’s defeat against Canada. I think every match against Canada is special.” Unfortunately, we suffered a huge defeat. I don’t know what happened next, but we watched them skate until we ever played. It’s been so bad for us and our country, but life goes on.”

“The atmosphere was great, I really enjoyed it. Sometimes it was really hard to go outside because there were so many fans in town, but it was a pleasant memory for me. I will remember it forever.”
