“I expected to finish on the podium, and I also wanted to win, because then I could have qualified for the European Championship in Szeged, starting on Wednesday. Regardless, second place is a nice result. In the first choice, I finished fourth due to a technical error and missed the World Cup, but this proved that we did a good job with my coaches Janus Bencze. We met the initial conditions for participation in the European Championships in the 200 meters K2, but in the end it was decided that we could not participate in the event with Valentin Kirkov. I am sorry that it happened this way But we will not stop, we are preparing with full force for the National Championships, which will be selected for the World Championships in non-Olympic numbers – we are aiming for 200 meters individual!” says Mark Kovacs.
Consequently, only one iron kayaker, Tamás Zanto Szabó, will start in the aforementioned European Championships; It will be able to measure itself at K2 1000m and K4 1000m.
