Victory over Canada in the World Cup!

On Thursday, members of the Hungarian women’s national team once again competed in Section B of the Fifa U-19 World Championships in Switzerland. The goal was the same: to get the two points. And it worked again!

Strick Martin – utanpotlassport.huThe World Under-19 Girls’ World Championship, which was held in St. Gallen and Herisau, Switzerland, reached its second day, where the Hungarian national team competed, after yesterday’s victory over New Zealand, for two more points, this time one of the strongholds of ice hockey. – The “big brother” of the sport against Canada.

The Hungarian girls’ national team made a great start to the tournament

Our team confidently started the World Championships in Switzerland. In their first match in the lower division (Division B) they beat New Zealand 5-1 with a good game so they are one step closer to promotion, where the top two from Group D will fight against the top two. difference in the other section.

The Hungarian national team was knocked out of the first age group (Division A) in 2014, in the global event held for the sixth time. (It is interesting that the German national team lost the first match in this year’s tournament 29-0 to the five-time world champion Sweden, and then lost to the Czech Republic 7‒2 in the second round).

The last time they were able to advance to the higher division was in 2010, when the girls did it all undefeated, despite only four teams vying for advancement there. The goal this year is the same, and knowing this, the Hungarian players took to the field against the Canadian national team and started the match brilliantly: we took the lead in the third minute.

After that, the advantage grew more and more, and the result was that, three minutes into the second half, there were already two goals on the scoreboard next to the name of Hungary. Then there was a quick change of goals: in the 12th minute the team from the American continent made it better by scoring a goal, after a few seconds we increased the advantage, and by the end of the second half the score had already changed to 4‒1, so we can confidently wait for the final chapter .

For a long time it seemed that the two teams could not find a gap in the net, but shortly before the end, the Canadians launched a last attack to save a point and cut the Hungarian advantage to two again with a converted penalty kick. After that, goal production began: goal in goal, goal in another, but neither side had time for more attacks, so the final score was 5‒3, as our team jumped to the top of the group.
