Only one team managed to win two sets against them, and that was the Hungarian team, which lost three match points.
In the quarter-finals, the host Swedish team, which bid farewell to the Hungarian team, won the gold medal and the accompanying Olympic quota in Paris at the European Championship for the Malmö table tennis team.
In the final match on Sunday, the Scandinavian team defeated defending champion Germany 3-1. On Friday, the Hungarian national team lost to Sweden 3-2 from three points in the match.
The tournament that ended on Sunday was also South Korea’s continental competition to qualify for next February’s World Cup finals: the quarter-finalists – including Hungary’s men – qualify automatically, with the other four places going to the final eight teams. Which will occupy the best positions in the world rankings for October.
