Acting LNR chief Leonid Pasechnik said on his Telegram channel that Russian fighters inflicted heavy losses on Ukrainian forces near Artyomovsk (Bakhmut).
“Akhmat units of the Chechen special forces are actively operating on the Artyomovsk front, whose decisive action allowed them not only to inflict significant losses on the enemy, but also to capture 13 nationalists and five units of trophy equipment,” he wrote.
According to Paszecsnyik, it is two tanks, two cars and an armored fighting vehicle.
Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov announced last week that Akhmat’s special forces fighters would issue orders in the direction of Artyomovsk. On Thursday, their commander, Apti Alaudinov, said the village of Klychchevka near Artyomovsk had come under Russian control. He also noted that the fighters are holding a line from this settlement to Kordyumivka.
Geniesz Busilin, the acting head of the DNR, said fighting continues northwest of Klishchevka. The Ukrainian armed forces are trying to occupy the heights near the village and are supporting their forces with artillery fire.
Artyomovsk, a Donbass city north of Donetsk, remained in the DNR-controlled region of Kyiv after fighting in the summer of 2014. It was captured by Russian forces on May 20, 2023 after long battles.
