In the coming months, “many important steps will be taken” to determine that Romania is already entitled to join the United States visa program.
According to Agerpres, Kathleen Cavalick said Marcel Seolaco's meeting with the Prime Minister that Romania's joining the visa rationalization program will make it easy for Romanian citizens to travel to tourism and businesses to the United States, because they will not need a visa.
The ambassador also confirmed that the American Internal Security Program is being managed by the US Department of Internal Security. He added that government representatives in the two countries are still consulting in the fall because “there is a need for” many more important steps “to determine that Romania is already entitled to join the Waver Visa program.
When asked about the “important steps” he believed, the ambassador replied that as part of the measure, Romania signed many security agreements and the American side must ensure that the country will actually set it.
One of the basic requirements for admission to the Waver program in Visa is compensation for the percentage of rejected visa applications less than 3 percent. According to Ambassador Kathleen Cavalick, official data will be announced in January at the latest if the United States government made a positive decision for Romania, preparation and information. “If all conditions and preparations are successfully completed, the program can start at some point in 2025,” he said.
The ambassador also emphasized that the visa -free program applies exclusively to tourism and commercial travel, and does not replace the tasks of students and work.
