We've heard some rumors about the immediate future of the franchise, which are worth recapping.
Assassin's Creed: Infinity was announced by Ubisoft in 2021. It will have some sort of pivotal role that connects the other experiences of the franchise and has online elements. But beyond that, we haven't heard much about the project that was announced several years ago, as Tom Henderson announced on the Insider Gaming website. It's not a surprise, but in short it can be said that it has a direct service approach.
Henderson has seen demo footage of Assassin's Creed: Infinity, and from here we can launch other games and experiences in the series. This will only take a few seconds. However, inside Infinity, there will be a store, The Exchange. For microtransactions, you get cosmetic items and access to projects. These will regularly appear as battle passes that can be used to obtain additional items. (If the IP were, or primarily focused on, multiplayer, this would make sense, but it's a bit of an odd move for a mostly single-player franchise.)
So the French publisher is making the live service elements independent of the Assassin's Creed games, but it all depends on the implementation: if playing games via Infinity is mandatory (and there's a chance it will be, because Activision Blizzard also uses a similar system in Call of Duty), it won't be There are significant changes, and the Game as a Service (GaaS) elements cannot be ignored. According to Henderson, Assassin's Creed: Infinity will be released in late 2024 or the first quarter of 2025, at the same time as the Japanese-themed Assassin's Creed: Red.
Ubisoft plans to release new and bigger Assassin's Creed games every two years. Meanwhile, smaller projects come along. For example, the multiplayer Assassin's Creed: Invictus could come in 2025, while Ubisoft Montreal's Hexe could come in 2026. A remake of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is being planned, and a project with the same name is in the works. An iconic Nebula (a larger game set in multiple locations), another remake is planned, and finally there's a Raid (a cooperative multiplayer title).
All this is not official yet!
