Normafa Síház will be opened on October 6, and the almost 100-year-old building will return after three years of reconstruction. A few days before the opening, we visited the place and tasted some dishes from the renewed opening menu.
The rebirth of Normafa Síház can be realized as part of the large-scale Normafa Park project of the Municipality of the 12th District, as a result of the work of the 7th Workshop and the architectural office Studio Konstella. The building has changed little from the outside, only the semi-circular balcony is open, returned to the original plans, the stained glass windows are gone, but the interior has been completely renovated, and the place has been rebuilt from the ground up.

The building creates a clean, modern but natural effect at the same time, as the kitchen, service units and machine rooms are well hidden, and the place is waiting to be visited by as many hikers as possible.

The main novelty is the Forest Pavilion, bordered by large glass walls, completely completed with a wooden support structure and cover, which can also be used as a multifunctional room as a conference and wedding venue, but will of course function primarily as a restaurant room. The two buildings, connected by a glass-walled corridor, have a total capacity of about 140 people – and are somehow reminiscent of the Hungarian Music House on Varosliget.

An interesting detail is the pine panel, which, according to the architects, will become grayer and nobler in its surroundings over time, due to natural aging. The designers wanted those sitting inside to feel like they were in nature, and this was achieved well thanks to the huge glass surfaces. The place is sophisticated, and looking at it from the outside it blends well with the surrounding nature.

In addition to the glass walkway, the terrace was also replaced, in which the entire forest was retained, except for one tree, and it was possible to avoid placing English grass on it.

Family restaurant with pho soup and pizza
According to the chefs’ vision, the kitchen wants to occupy the site of a shared family restaurant, where in addition to families hiking to Normava, nearby runners and cyclists are also happy to stop in for a drink, salad or snack. dinner.

In order to meet the broad needs of families, the not-so-long list includes: “Novelty Flavors” Oriental flavors (pho soup, Asian noodles), and children’s favorite Neapolitan-style pizza.

It is clear that these dishes are trying to serve lovers of new and traditional cuisine, although the presentation and flavors are perhaps too interesting and contain unusual flavors for families who visit Normava once.
