It was clear to Max Verstappen that he only had a chance of finishing second at the Dutch Grand Prix, and the Red Bull world champion did just that.
Max Verstappen had no chance against Lando Norris at the Dutch Grand Prix, with the Red Bull driver, who was driving in front of the home crowd, finishing second. Verstappen had made a good start and easily passed the McLaren driver before the first corner, but as the laps ticked by it became clear that the Woking team had a much better pace than the power drinkers. The Dutchman was unable to hold the lead for long, finishing more than 20 seconds behind Norris.
“I always try to do better… It was good for us, we gave it our all today, but I think it became clear during the race that we weren’t fast enough. My target today was second place,” Verstappen began his post-race assessment.
“I didn’t think too much at the start, we knew we were very good at it. I was confident that I would be able to start well again. Fortunately, it turned out that way. “After that I tried to focus on my race and that was enough to get second place today,” said the Dutchman.
