Netflix is trying to please fans with easy board games.
In the case of highly successful series and movie franchises, goods will inevitably appear: hats, T-shirts, mugs, all kinds of souvenirs, with which we can express the volume of our fans, and distributors can squeeze a little more money from us. There is nothing wrong with that, everyone is fine, everyone will be happy in the end.
Netflix has teamed up with one of the biggest tablet game publishers, Asmodee, on three adaptations of its series, one of which, Stranger Things: Attack of the Mind Flayer, has been available in Hungarian for months, and we’ve also written a presentation on it.
As with this, as with the adaptation of Ozark and Squid Game, the primary consideration was that the gameplay was easy to learn and connected to the source material.
Ozark is a land conquest game for 2 to 5 players, where you control a group (such as the Byrdes, FBI, Navarro Cartel or Kansas City Mafia) and fight for money, influence, and control of known locations from the series. It is developed by Mixlore, who travels in thematic games and is also responsible for Winning Soup.
In a Squid game, 3-6 players, each controlling 12 people, can compete in the six matches shown in the series. Whoever completes it first wins. This also comes from Mixlore.
The games will be available exclusively at Walmart in the US starting July 30th, but we hope they arrive in our country soon.
