EA Sports FC 24 did not bring any major changes after the previous versions, and we can probably expect the same in the next version.
Who would have thought a few years ago that the legendary game series would get a new title. However, Electronic Arts stepped in after not renewing the contract with FIFA due to financial problems. The biggest novelty in the latest installment was the player movement, which looked more realistic than ever, reflecting the position and movements of football players in different situations.
They did this by tracking each player’s movements with motion capture cameras in several of last year’s cup series, especially in the Champions League, and modeling their signature moves based on that. That’s something to be applauded for, but in the past, more modest changes have been made to successive installments of the series. Of course, the difference between FIFA 20 years ago and today’s game is striking, but anyone who enjoyed World Cup 98 knows that previous titles had a much better atmosphere.
Obviously the nostalgia factor plays a role, as the diamond faces and slow motion leave something to be desired for players, but lately development seems to have stalled. Of course, the game will become more and more beautiful, and the gameplay with various mechanical elements will be improved, but it is also true that recurring bugs have not yet been fixed, such as situations that caused surreal scenes in front of the goal, which caused many joysticks to break over time.
Fans may rightly wonder why they have to pay for a full game every year, when the framework changes most of the time. It is possible that the best solution for players would be to buy the game every three years, along with the framework changes in the form of DLC, but that does not mean huge financial gains for the publisher.
What can be discouraging is that big changes are usually timed to the arrival of the next generation of consoles, so there is a high probability that the new installment will also not bring many new features. However, what we can be optimistic about is that FIFA also wants to continue the series, now without EA, with completely different developers, thus creating a rather dangerous competitive situation. Perhaps FIFA has a greater chance of dethroning EA FC than the well-known Pro Evolution Soccer series tried, but even if it does not succeed, players can benefit greatly from the competition.
