Netflix has premiered its South Korean series “The Influencer.” The new show sets itself apart from traditional survival formats by featuring 77 social media influencers from different platforms including TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and AfreecaTV.
The diverse cast of influencers brings extensive online experience and strong engagement with their fans, promising an innovative and dynamic approach to the survival genre. The trailer released on Netflix’s official YouTube and X channels gave a sneak peek at the series, introducing some of the cast and revealing their impressive followings. In total, these personalities have an estimated social media value of €275 million and have over 120 million followers, underlining the prestigious nature of the show.
“The Influencer” puts its contestants to the test as they face dangerous challenges to determine who has the most influence. “A world where attention and influence define each person’s worth and power, welcome to the social survival program, The Influencer.” Announcing the trailer, each of the 77 influencers will have to overcome different obstacles to be the best, and it promises to be an engaging and competitive show.
“The Influencer” premiered exclusively on Netflix on August 6. According to a report from The sun Starting August 1, 2024, the series' producer Lee Jae-seok shared with Netflix that viewers will be able to discover Korea's top influencers and enjoy a unique entertainment experience throughout the 16 episodes.
He stressed that Netflix’s scale and unique visuals bring the unprecedented challenges of social survival to life. Lee Jae-seok also mentioned his curiosity about bringing influencers together in one place with the help of algorithms. While the full list of 77 contestants has yet to be officially released, previews and teasers have revealed the following confirmed cast members:

“The Influencer” is directed by Lee Jae-seok and Son Soo-jeong. Lee Jae-seok, the creative producer behind the show, explained: “I thought it would be interesting to bring together algorithmically distributed influencers in one place. Given the success of Korean survival shows like “Physical: 100” and “The Devil’s Plan” on Netflix, there is a lot of anticipation surrounding this new large-scale survival series.
