Since May 2023, and especially since July 2023, most of Hollywood has been shut down, halting all upcoming Netflix projects in their various stages of development. With the strikes seemingly over, things are returning to normal as films and series look to start or restart production.
Please note that this list is subject to change. Things are pretty smooth now with production starting, since everyone is clamoring to get back into production at once, and so many things have to be set up to get things moving.
- Aurora – Director Kathryn Bigelow’s new film is scheduled to begin production in early 2024.
- Cobra Kai (Season 6) – Early 2024 TBD – Filming was originally scheduled to begin in Atlanta the day after the writer’s strike began in May 2023.
- Emily in Paris (Season 4) Filming is scheduled to begin on January 15, 2024 in Paris and Rome.
- Frankenstein – Guillermo del Toro’s new film is scheduled to begin filming under the working title Prodigal Father in Toronto from February 2024.
- Monsters: The Story of Lyle and Eric Menendez – Dahmer’s follow-up series will focus on the Menendez brothers. Filming was originally scheduled to begin in September 2023, but will now run from mid-December until next March.

- Stranger Things (Season 5) – Conflicting reports on this subject. David Harbor has suggested that production could begin as soon as mid-to-late November 2023, while other reports suggest that the cameras themselves won’t start rolling until the first full working week of January 2024. Meanwhile, one source suggests that A date has officially been penciled in for the large-scale Netflix original that will likely go into production for a full year.
- That ’90s Show (Season 2) -Live recordings will begin in Los Angeles from December 1, 2023.

- Lincoln Lawyer (Season 3) – Filming is scheduled to begin in Los Angeles in January 2024. We heard that filming will take place until May 2024.
- Madness (limited series) Production on this new limited series was halted midway through, but according to the Directors Guild of Canada, production is expected to begin again in January 2024.

- The Sandman (Season 2) – The second season was underway, but was stopped after the actor’s strike began. Neil Gaiman has confirmed that Season 2 will begin on November 27.
- The Umbrella Academy (Season 4) The fourth and final season (scheduled for release in 2024) was re-shot in mid-November 2023.

- The Witcher (Season 4) Preparation for the new season of The Witcher won’t begin until early 2024, reportedly Redanian Intelligencewhich reports that seasons four and five may be filmed back-to-back.
- Unstable (season 2) – The Rob Lowe-led comedy has just been announced for renewal, and will begin filming again in late November and continue through January 2024.
- Untitled North Pole comedy project with CBC and APTN Filming in Canada is scheduled for March 2024 and wraps in June.
- Wednesday (Season 2) -Originally scheduled to debut in the fall of 2023, Netflix’s biggest show in history is set to move to Ireland for a second season and begin filming in late April 2024. According to the deadline.
