The events of the next episode of the Resident Evil series may not take place in the place we are accustomed to from Capcom, because according to rumors, we may get a new location and environment compared to the previous ones.
We've already reported on what AestheticGamer/Dusk Golem tweeted about Resident Evil 9, but he's since answered a question you're probably asking: Where does this episode take place? The leaker wrote that there is an island in the sea of Southeast Asia, and here will be a fictional small isolated town where the events of Resident Evil 9 could take place. This city is mainly inspired by Singapore, so it is not certain that we will get a small isolated town location in the next major RE episode. .
Since Capcom used the RE Engine, Resident Evil has taken players to various locations. The events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard take place in the Dolphy area of the American state of Louisiana, around the Baker Mansion and the underground factory, while Resident Evil: Village takes place in an unnamed country in Eastern Europe (Romania, Moldova…) in a village and in the surrounding lands of the Four Lords. With it. Resident Evil 2 and 3 Remake were set in Raccoon Town (but it was blown up, so it's outside of the fairies), and Resident Evil 4 Remake was about a Spanish village, a castle, and an island. Compared to these, Southeast Asia would be a huge change, and there would probably be no complaints from the point of view if the Japanese actually developed the game using the next generation RE Engine, RE neXt (REX).
As far as Resident Evil leaks go, Dusk Golem can be considered surprisingly accurate, so the next episode has likely been in development for nearly seven years, which will likely be released at least in early 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. Personal. If it does launch at the beginning of the year, it's possible that Resident Evil 9 will be announced sometime in the summer, during one of E3's alternate streams.
Microsoft or Sony? We'll find out soon enough.
