The importance of the AUKUS Convention was discussed at the first autumn lecture of Matthias Corvinus College in Szekesfeervár. According to Adam Tenzer, the most important geopolitical goal of the AUKUS agreement is to balance China’s growing military potential in the region.
Adam Tenzer gave a lecture on the AUKUS Convention at the Mathias Corvinus Collegium’s first fall event in Szekesfehervár. On September 15, 2021, the AUKUS Agreement was signed, which greatly angered France and China.
“This is the Pacific Cooperation Agreement between the United States, Great Britain and Australia, which aims to supply Australia with eight nuclear-powered submarines sometime in the early 2040s. But there are a lot of question marks surrounding the matter.” – said Adam Tenzer, a researcher at MCC Külgazdasági Műhely.
At the request of the United States, Australia terminated its agreement with France in 2016, and instead the United States and Great Britain would provide it with the technology needed to operate nuclear-powered submarines.
“In fact, we can already talk about operational implementation from this year, because as of this year, the two parties are jointly involved in the operation of submarine equipment located in the United States and the United Kingdom. This means that the previously inexperienced Australian crew will participate in Law enforcement work on American and British submarines” – Most notable is Adam Tenzer.
In this way, they gain so-called operational knowledge and experience. After that, Australia is scheduled to buy five Virginia-class submarines from Britain in the 2030s. The primary goal of the AUKUS cooperation is to supply the Australian Navy with nuclear-powered submarines A regional counterweight to China’s growing military potential.
