In recent weeks, already at the beginning of the 2023-2024 respiratory epidemic season, Portfolio has closely followed the development of the situation and was the first to report every week on the National Center for Public Health and Pharmacy, which is published on Thursday. The latest data is available for the period from November 27 to December 3. At 48 weeks The situation in the country continued to deteriorate regarding respiratory infections.
Regarding the number of people who go to the doctor with flu-like symptoms, we mentioned this in our last article The current epidemiological situation is much worse than in recent years. The seriousness of the situation is clearly demonstrated by the fact that the infection rate among those who go to the doctor with flu-like symptoms is one and a half times higher than it was at the beginning of last season, and it is double the rate recorded in 2021.
Situation in the last week (Week 49: December 4 – December 10) It is assumed that his condition has deteriorated further, so that our readers feel that there are many sick and injured people around him. This phenomenon is supported by the fact that the hospital in Veszprém ordered the mandatory use of masks from December 11, as well as a partial ban on visits.
All because upper respiratory viruses spread seasonally at this time, but at the same time social gatherings (in schools, kindergartens, nurseries, workplaces) take place under normal conditions (use of masks, without other measures), which provides a strong breeding ground for viruses. A slight break can be expected during the week during the Christmas holidays, when the number of calls is reduced due to the winter holidays. This seasonal pattern is also clearly visible in the chart above.
It is no coincidence that the government announced the vaccination program.
All these developments only show respiratory infections, and do not represent the spread of other diseases.
