To the delight of Harry Potter fans, in the Hogwarts Legacy video game, not only can the magical school and its surroundings be explored, but quidditch, the most popular sport among wizards, can also be played in later DLC. The game developers have not yet officially confirmed this information, but there are several clues pointing to it.
Hogwarts Legacy is an open world action role-playing game set before the Harry Potter books and films in the 19th century. Players can take on the role of their wizard’s apprentice, who must choose a house, learn spells, and embark on adventures at Hogwarts and beyond. The game offers plenty of opportunities for exploration and fun, but one thing is missing: Quidditch.
Quidditch is a glamorous sport played on a broomstick. The object of the game is for teams to score as many points as possible by tossing balls through three hoops while avoiding the opponent’s rackets and trying to get a golden snitch, a small ball with wings that is worth 150 points and the game is over. Quidditch plays an important role in the Harry Potter stories, as Harry himself was a Quidditch player and had many exciting moments on the court.
However, there is no option to play Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy. There is a quidditch court at the game, but it has been closed by the headmaster, Professor Black, citing security reasons. However, many believe that this is just an excuse to leave the sport out of the game and add it later in additional paid content. This is also hinted at by the fact that the game already has brooms and balls that can be used for quidditch.
Another potential DLC could be Prison of Azkaban. Azkaban is a prison on an island where the most dangerous dark magicians are imprisoned. The prison is guarded by vandals who suck people’s souls and make them happy. There is a side mission in the game where the Hufflepuff students must go to Azkaban to free the prisoner. However, this is only a short trip that not all homes can reach. Many believe this is just a taste of what we could see in the Azkaban DLC.
So Hogwarts Legacy could have many surprises in store for Harry Potter fans.
