The FBI is already investigating the arson.

Several ballot boxes were reportedly set on fire in the western part of the United States NBC News. Authorities were alerted to the burning of ballot boxes in Portland and Vancouver, Washington, and elsewhere.

Officials in Portland say three ballots were damaged, but hundreds of votes were cast in Vancouver. Police said the fires may have been caused by firebombs, and in Portland's case, a fire extinguisher system installed in the box saved most of the ballots.

Vancouver officials are asking anyone who cast a ballot after 11 a.m. Saturday to contact them.

A similar incident occurred in Phoenix before, where a mailbox containing postal ballots was burned. These cases are being investigated by the FBI.
