The ban on the iPhone 16 series has been lifted and a lot of information has been revealed.

While Apple didn’t officially announce charging speeds when the devices were unveiled, we now know more. Yes, the iPhone 16 series will offer faster charging.

Faster wired and wireless charging for iPhone 16 models

How much faster? The iPhone 15 series achieved a maximum charging speed of 27 watts when charging with a cable, while the iPhone 16 series is theoretically capable of 45 watts. However, in general use we get a charging speed of around 38-39 watts, so it is slightly faster than last year's models.

Ice Universe mentioned this about a week ago, and now ShrimpApplePro has confirmed the information. As for wireless charging methods, they have also improved.

Apple has increased the speed of wireless charging in the new phones, but only the MagSafe standard is affected by this change. With MagSafe wireless charging, we can now reach speeds of 25 watts, while last year the maximum was 15 watts.

If you use the Qi2 standard, you can achieve a charging speed of 15 watts, while regular Qi charging is still 7.5 watts. The iPhone 16 models also support 5 watt wired reverse charging, which could be useful for charging truly wireless headphones, for example.

There is no charger in the box yet.

So technically, Apple has improved the charging speeds on the new smartphones. It’s not a huge improvement over last year, but it’s definitely worth mentioning. However, we still can’t find a charger in the box.

As many of you may know, the company has announced four smartphones: the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. While the “Pro” models have advantages, the charging speed seems to be the same for all models. However, we can’t confirm that completely yet.

All four models will be officially available on September 20.
