One person was killed and a number of others were injured in attacks launched by Russian forces in several regions of Ukraine on Wednesday night.
“During the night, the Russians opened fire on Seledov, killing one person and wounding seven others,” Vadim Velaskin, the governor of Ukraine’s Donetsk region, wrote on Telegram on Thursday.
The attack also damaged 53 multi-storey buildings, 10 family homes and 24 vehicles. The governor did not say how the Russians opened fire on the city west of Donetsk, which had been in Russian hands since 2014. One person was also wounded in Avzhijivka.
In the Odessa region, two policemen were injured as a result of a drone strike, the Ukrinska Pravda online portal reported. In the city, two buildings under construction, a residential building and a dormitory were also damaged.
According to a statement by the Ukrainian Air Force on Thursday, 11 out of 17 Russian combat drones attacking four regions of the country were neutralized.
Accidents and damage were also reported in Mykolaiv in southern Ukraine and Vinnitsa Oblast in the central part of the country. More than 20 residential buildings, an industrial building and a sports facility were damaged in Mykolaiv, and a downed drone caused a fire in an infrastructure building in Vinnytsia. The fire department was able to control the fire.
However, Ukrainian air defenses were able to neutralize the drones and most of the Kh-101 automated maneuvering aircraft Converted Russian anti-aircraft missiles, Iskander ballistic missiles and other types of maneuverable drones were targeted.
